5 DAYS TOUR FROM TANGIER TO MARRAKECH via Sahara desert

Itinerary of 5 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech via the Sahara desert

DAY 1 : TANGIER – CHEFCHAOUEN – FES

We will pick you up from your hotel, airport, or port and begin our 5-day excursion from Tangier to Marrakech through the breathtaking Rif Mountains, Tetouan, and the lovely blue city.
Where we will have free time to discover this enchanting little town by walking through its narrow streets painted with blue and white colors that will allow us to take some beautiful photographs, visit its old medina, Ras el Ma " head of the water " this is the point where the fresh mountain waterfall seeps into the town...
You will have a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in the famous square of Plaza Uta el-Hammam. In the afternoon, once your visit concludes, we will travel directly to Fes while enjoying wonderful views of the Rif mountains and green landscapes of the north of Morocco; late afternoon arrival in Fes; overnight stay at a decorated hotel/riad.

Day 2: Fes - Middle Atlas - Tiz'nTalghamm - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Desert

Your 5-day excursion from Tangier to Marrakech with Sahara Camel Trips starts with a pick-up at 8:30 a.m. from your accommodation in Fes and a drive to Merzouga across the middle Atlas Mountains.
Stop at the picturesque city of Ifrane (also known as "Moroccan Switzerland"), continue to the renowned cedar forest in Azrou where you may view monkeys, and continue to the town of Midelt for lunch.
After that, we'll head south to Erfoud, known for its fossils and its annual dates festival market, via the beautiful Ziz Valley, where we'll stop to admire a nice panoramic view of the oasis. In the afternoon, we'll reach the impressive Erg Chebbi dunes, where we'll have dinner and spend the night at a hotel in Merzouga.

 

Day Three: Explore the Merzouga region – Erg Chebbi – Camel Trek and Night in a desert Camp

After breakfast at your accommodation, we'll begin our Merzouga 4x4 tour to discover several locations near Erg Chebbi dunes. We'll visit HassiLabied oasis to observe its irrigation canal and land cultivation, and then we'll travel south to the seasonal Sriji lake (if there is water).
If you are interested in hearing the Gnawa music of the dark-skinned people who were taken to Morocco as immigrants over a century ago and worked as slaves, we will proceed to Khamlia hamlet.
After that, we'll go to M'ifis mines. In addition, the Merzouga desert is renowned for its minerals and fossils. During our Merzouga 4*4 desert trip, we'll get the chance to meet a nomad Berber family still living in a tent in the heart of the Sahara. We'll also have mint tea with them and learn about life in the desert. We will a stop at many panoramic vistas to enjoy the scenery and snap photographs of the sites.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we'll return to the village from where you'll do camel trekking to reach our Berber Camp in Merzouga. The camel ride takes 1:30 h with a break on top of the dunes to watch the sunset, try sandboarding if that's an activity you're interested in, enjoy the views, and take photos after these beautiful moments.
You will proceed to the camp, where you will be greeted with a drink of tea and invited to rest until dinner. After dinner, there will be traditional Berber drumming music, and you will sleep in a nomadic tent.

 

Merzouga - Todgha Gorge - Dades Valley on Day 4

As you're already in the desert, it's worth waking up early to see the sunrise near the camp. After these beautiful moments, you'll have breakfast and a shower at the camp. Then you may ride camels or travel by 4WD back to the starting point to meet your driver.
You'll visit the weekly market in Rissani if it's one of the market days (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday), and we'll drive via little Berber settlements such as Touroug, Tinjdad, and the Tinghir, where we'll pause to view the Todra valley's gorgeous palm-filled palm groves.
We proceed to the Todra Gorge, which is situated at the base of the High Atlas Mountains and is a popular spot for rock climbers; we'll have free time to explore its high gorges...
After lunch, we'll drive to Boumalne Dades and arrive in Dades valley in the late afternoon, where we'll eat supper and spend the night in a hotel/riad. After we drop at the hotel in Dades, day 4 of your 6 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech via the Sahara Desert reaches its end.

 

Fifth day: Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait ben Haddou - High Atlas - Marrakech

Today is the last day of our 5 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech via Merzouga desert. We will continue towards Marrakech through KalaatM'gouna, rose valley, and Skoura palm forest. We visit the Kasbah Taourirte and Ouarzazate's film studios (optional).
Following we will go to Ait Benhaddou, where we will explore the renowned and oldest kasbah there (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). In this stunning location, the films Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara starring Penélope Cruz were filmed. time available for lunch.
We will continue our journey by traversing the High Atlas Mountains through the highest road pass in Morocco, TiziN'tichka, which is 2,260 meters above sea level and gives breathtaking views of the surrounding Berber communities. Your 5-day excursion from Tangier to Marrakech via the Sahara desert concludes with an afternoon/evening arrival in Marrakech and a hotel transfer.
